In acknowledgement of the difficult economic conditions facing those in the architecture profession, NCARB announced that it is waiving all past renewal fees for former certificate or record holders.
The cost to reactivate for architects will be $475 if they allowed their certificates or records to go inactive while an architect. For architects who allowed their records to go inactive while an intern, the renewal fees will be waived and they will gain certification for free “as long as they qualify for NCARB certification.” The reactivation fee is also $475.
The savings could be as much as $1,025 for architects.
Interns will need to pay $75 to reactivate a lapsed record. In addition, if their record remains active through licensure, “they will get NCARB-certified for free and will get half-price renewals of their certificate for three years.”
The announcement was made in an open letter from Michael Armstrong, CEO of the National Council for Architectural Registration Boards.
