Corporate Architect

Job Summary

Provides a full range of professional  Architectural Services for system wide facilities planning and construction. Responsible for preparation and sealing construction documents and specifications for Carilion projects. Coordinates technical resources required for construction projects. Closely coordinates with Project Management and construction, and other facility stakeholders.

Work involves application of advanced professional architectural knowledge and skills as well as basic knowledge of patient care processes. Resolves most issues and problems, but refers the most complex issues and problems to the Manager. Impact of the work is Corporate wide. Reviews work of others. Regularly communicates with regulators, vendors, and Carillion staff.  Independent judgment required based on Corporate and Department Policies, Procedures and standards as well as professional Architectural expertise and knowledge of all applicable Codes and Regulations affecting public safety and welfare. Provides input into budget and cost containment initiatives. May provide analysis to aid in budget formulation for projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree from a professionally accredited architecture program required.

Experience:  Ten to fifteen years as an architect.  Experience with design of Healthcare Facilities preferred.  Design supervision and Project Management experience is desirable.  Working knowledge of Building and Life Safety codes required.  AutoCAD experience required.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration:  Current Licensure as an Architect in Commonwealth of Virginia.

Virginia motor vehicle operator license required.

Other Minimum Qualifications:  Effective interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), problem solving and teamwork skills required.  AIA membership desirable.  Ability to maintain detailed records.  Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required.

Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites.  Evening and weekend work may be required.

Registered Architect.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordinate and supervise Project Team.

Plans and develops architectural projects.
Meet with Client and Contractor(s) to provide interpretation of contract documents.
Make design and documentation decisions using discretion and good judgement.
Assist in proposal/marketing efforts.
Ensure accuracy and completion of all project related tasks.
Assist the Project Manager in establishing the project budget and program development.
Travel to Project Job Site or Design Office as required to facilitate design and construction under the direction of the Project Architect.
Maintain strong communication with staff regarding firm’s goals, values, assignments and expectations.
Maintain base state registration and professional affiliations.
Collaborates with other studios as required to meet project objectives.

Architect/CAD Drafter
Richmond, VA

Full-service hospitality design  firm in Richmond, VA is seeking an Experienced Full-time Architect/ CAD Drafter for immediate opening.. Our projects range from small renovations to complete packages for new construction projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Creating all CAD drawings for a project from schematic space plans to full construction documents.
  • Developing a design program for each project using brand standards and property improvement plans while keeping the client’s budget in mind.
  • Working closely with the design/specification department in developing and documenting the FF&E package for each project.
  • Handling multiple projects, often with short deadlines. Additional work hours may be required.
  • Applying knowledge of building codes and ADA guidelines while developing space plans.
  • Participating in client meetings on site or in the office. Travel is required.
  • Verifying dimensions and taking pictures on site; candidate must be skilled at documenting this information.
  • Communicating directly with clients and hotel brands.

Minimum Requirements, Attributes, and Skills:

  • 5 years minimum CAD work experience.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited program in Interior Design or Architecture. NCIDQ Certification is preferred.
  • Previous Hotel/Hospitality experience would be a big plus!
  • Some skills in 3-D modeling (SketchUp, REVIT, 3D Max), and some graphic knowledge (Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Must take direction and build on that direction.
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills are essential.
  • Comfortable handling multiple projects at once.
  • Must be a conscientious self-motivated team-player with a positive attitude!
