Fellows Fete 2016

You are cordially invited to the Fellows Fete 2016 on April 16, 2016, at the Williamsburg Lodge, Williamsburg, VA.  We will be honoring our two newest Virginia Fellows, Ann Kosmal, FAIA from the Northern Virginia chapter and David Oakland, FAIA from Central Virginia chapter. Please join us for this annual black-tie formal affair.

1:30 p.m. – Tour of the Bruton Heights Education Center of Colonial Williamsburg
301 First St (Capital Landing Road), Williamsburg, VA 23185

This tour will be led by Ed Chappell, Director of Architectural and Archeological Research at Colonial Williamsburg.   This is the behind the scenes professional complex for CW.  The tour will include the John D. Rockefeller Library and the Bruton Heights Center.  Meet outside the Library at 1:30 p.m.  This complex is outside the restored town, just to the north and east about 1 mile.  There is ample parking.  Registration is not required for the tour.

 6:00 p.m. – Reception and Fete Williamsburg Lodge

The formal festivities will begin with a reception in the Colony Room of the Williamsburg Lodge located at 310 South England Street.  Meet the new Fellows and old friends over a drink and some appetizers.   The traditional group photo of the Fellows will be taken about 7:00 p.m.

The plated dinner will be begin with a salad course and diners will have a choice among the following  entrees:

• Chicken Two Ways, Mushroom Crusted Breast or Citrus Confit Leg, with Roasted Baby Potatoes
• Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon, with White Bean Ragu, Braised Greens, Smoked Tomato Ragu, Parsley Lemon Pesto
• Grilled Portobello Mushroom “Steak,” with White Bean Fennel Cassoulet, Braised Swiss Chard Charred Tomato Relish, Rosemary Basil Pesto

The Fete will conclude with remarks from our own Helene Combs Dreiling, FAIA, past President of the AIA about her exciting year with a look into the future of the profession.

The registration fee is $140 each or $275 with a guest.  Please register no later than April 11, 2016.

Hotel Accommodations:

A block of nine rooms has been reserved at the Williamsburg Lodge for the evening of April 16.  A discounted rate begins at $185, plus taxes.  Contact directly the Hotel’s online reservations system by providing the Group name (AIA Virginia) or code (39439) or by calling 800-261-9530 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Individual reservations should be made by Tuesday, March 15, 2016.  We have had to guarantee the nine rooms, so please utilize this option.

Parking for the Fete

Complimentary parking is available at the Williamsburg Lodge Guest parking lot, which is located to the east of the Lodge, and across the street from the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. They offer valet parking at $10 per night, per car.
