Architectural Project Manager

Job Board Listings,

Architectural Project Manager | 7–10 Years’ Experience

Dominion Seven Architects | Lynchburg, VA

Want to lead projects without stepping away from the design and technical work that made you want to become an architect in the first place?

Dominion Seven Architects is looking for an experienced Architectural Project Manager to join our collaborative studio in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia. We need someone who can take a project from the first client conversation and early sketch all the way through construction and the final punch list—and keep the team moving in the right direction along the way.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead architectural projects from programming and design through construction and closeout.
  • Develop project work plans, schedules, staffing assignments, and deliverables.
  • Direct, mentor, and review the work of junior architectural staff.
  • Manage project scope, fees, consultant coordination, and client expectations.
  • Keep clients, consultants, contractors, and reviewing agencies informed and aligned.
  • Oversee coordinated Revit documents, code analysis, permitting, and quality control.
  • Provide construction-administration services, including site visits, submittal reviews, RFIs, field reports, and closeout.
Spot design, technical, coordination, and scheduling issues early—and help solve them before they become expensive problems.

What You’ll Bring

  • A professional degree in architecture or a related field.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive architectural experience.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage projects through every phase of design and construction.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
  • A solid understanding of construction documents, architectural detailing, building systems, codes, accessibility, and consultant coordination.
  • The ability to lead a team, delegate clearly, manage competing priorities, and communicate confidently with clients and project partners.
  • Architectural licensure in Virginia or active progress toward licensure is preferred.
  • Experience with renovations, additions, adaptive reuse, or public and institutional projects is a plus.
  • A sense of humor never hurts.

Why Dominion Seven?

Dominion Seven is a small, full-service firm with a diverse portfolio that includes educational, municipal, animal care, multifamily, commercial, religious, and community-focused projects throughout Virginia. Because we are a small firm, our project managers do more than manage spreadsheets and attend meetings. They remain involved in the design, documentation, problem-solving, client relationships, and construction of the projects they lead.

Our studio is located in a restored 1890s freight depot along Lynchburg’s historic downtown waterfront—a building Dominion Seven helped bring back to life. We value quality, creativity, responsible stewardship, teamwork, professional growth, and a healthy work-life balance. We take our work seriously, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously.

Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, licensure, and the ability to contribute to the firm. Dominion Seven Architects is an equal-opportunity employer.
