Event Details
This 60-minute webinar helps architects and design professionals evaluate solid American hardwood and imported vinyl/PVC flooring through the five impact areas of the AIA Materials Pledge: human health, climate health, ecosystem health, social health, and circularity. Using life-cycle comparisons, indoor-air-quality considerations, moisture and fire-performance concepts, forest-stewardship information, and end-of-life data, the program examines commonly used flooring claims such as “waterproof,” “eco-friendly,” and “wood-look.” Participants will learn how to interpret relevant product documentation and apply four practical specification strategies, including sourcing verification, composite-material compliance, chemical avoidance, and design for durability. The program is intended for architects, interior designers, specifiers, and sustainability professionals. No specialized prerequisite knowledge is required.
