Daya Irene Taylor
Professional Bio
Daya Irene Taylor, Ph.D., AIA, NOMA, is a licensed architect, educator, and industry leader with nearly three decades of experience spanning architectural practice, educational design, project management, higher education, and professional service. She currently serves as Senior Project Manager and Educational Design Lead for Florida with Larson Design Group (LDG), leading educational projects and supporting the firm’s growth within Florida’s K-12 market.
Dr. Taylor’s approach to educational design is informed by the intersection of architectural practice and educational leadership. She served as Chairperson and Associate Professor of Architecture at Hampton University, Interim Dean of the Robert R. Taylor School of Architecture and Construction Science at Tuskegee University, and Instructional Assistant Professor of Graduate Design with the University of Florida’s CityLab-Orlando graduate architecture program. Combined with her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Law, these experiences inform an approach to design that considers pedagogy, institutional mission, student experience, and the evolving ways people teach and learn.
Her expertise spans K-12 through higher education. She previously supported Orange County Public Schools’ Program Management Team, providing leadership for middle school capital projects, comprehensive renovations, campus assessments, and district design standards.
Dr. Taylor is a former member of the AIA Virginia Board of Directors and currently serves on its Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee. She is also a former National Secretary of NOMA and currently serves as Parliamentarian of VANOMA and Chair of the National NOMA EDUCATE Committee.
She holds degrees from Florida A&M University, Clemson University, and Alabama State University.
