An online petition was launched last night to save the American Press Institute (API) building from demolition. It is located at 11690 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, VA.

This petition is for Reston and other Fairfax County residents as well as people across North America who were supporters of API and it’s Marcel Breuer-designed headquarters where the Institute was based from 1974 to 2012. It also is for those who treasure and want to preserve historically and architecturally significant buildings.
The API building is the only Breuer building in Virginia.
The signatures will be sent to the Fairfax County Planning Commission prior to its June 16 meeting when it will vote on a developer’s rezoning application and demolition permit. They also will be sent to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
