SUMMARY:Advocacy Town Hall: a mid-session zoom update
DESCRIPTION:Ever wondered about the purpose and function of the Advocacy Advisory Council\, or the Joint Legislative Committee? And how\, or if\, those concern the AIA Virginia Political Action Committee? And how do those elements coordinate with other components of our organization? Or with the members? \nAn overview of our advocacy efforts at both the state and federal level will be offered during a Zoom town hall on Friday 16 February 2024 between 3 and 4 pm – a date that happens to coincide nicely with “Crossover” at the Virginia General Assembly. \nWe will provide an up-to-the-minute update on the bills we are tracking in the Virginia General Assembly. And an overview of the issues we intend to address during our “Hill Day” visit to the Capitol in DC during the AIA Leadership Summit on Wednesday 28 February 2024. I hope you will join us for this discussion. \n1 LU | elective \nRegister>> \n

SUMMARY:Architects Speak Up! Message Book Training
DESCRIPTION:While there is great respect for architects\, there’s little understanding of what we do\, or how our work affects others. Architectural practice is constantly evolving. To move the profession forward\, architects must work together to understand each other and communicate our value. Using findings from extensive research the AIA conducted about the general public’s perception of architects and architecture\, this presentation will review proven messaging strategies\, the importance of the words you use\, and how to make your message resonate with legislators\, your clients\, and the public. It’s our job to help others understand what we do\, and more importantly\, why it’s important to them. \nRegister. \nEarn 1.0 AIA LU | Elective \nHaven’t registered for the full Architects Speak Up! program yet? SUMMARY:Grassroots 2017
DESCRIPTION:Grassroots 2017\nWashington DC \nGrassroots 2017 is an exclusive event for AIA leaders of the American Institute of Architects. The agenda emphasizes component leadership and workshops designed to help component officers become more effective chapter and civic leaders. Members are given the opportunity to provide input on AIA initiatives\, share information and ideas\, and best practices with their counterparts from around the country.  There are also many networking opportunities with one another and AIA national staff. \nIn addition to the regular programs devoted to building stronger component leaders\, this year’s event will introduce attendees to the role of architects in shaping lives through design \nFor more information: https://www.aia.org/events/26611-grassroots-2017
