Flansburgh is seeking an architect with seven to fifteen years’ experience in a design-oriented office to assist and/or lead production of large public projects. The qualified candidate will participate in meetings with clients, consultants, and the design team. We are seeking a motivated person with exceptional technical skills, design ability, and time-management skills to successfully execute construction documents and meet project deadlines. Applicants should have a clear knowledge of building systems, sustainability practices, and an understanding of appropriate constructability within a project budget. Excellent communication and leadership skills, a five-year bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Architecture, and advanced knowledge of BIM software (Vectorworks preferred) are required.  A licensed/registered architect with LEED certification (or near licensure and certification) is preferred.

Interactive Design Group is seeking a Project Architect to join our team either in our Richmond or Roanoke Office. We would like to find a talented architect registered in Virginia with a minimum of ten years of experience to join our firm. This strategic hire is an opportunity for the right individual to leverage their design skills to be an integral member of our dynamic team, utilizing diverse skill sets to take on a growing practice’s challenges.

As a Project Architect, you will be responsible for all aspects of project design, planning, and execution, including leading the client and project team through complete architectural services from preliminary design through construction administration.  

You will be expected to work on many architectural projects from single-family and multi-family residential, government, municipal projects, office and tenant improvements, and adaptive reuse. Our work ranges from renovations and additions to new, ground-up buildings. You will meet directly with clients, and lead projects from start to finish, so you should have excellent abilities to articulate ideas and organize complex projects.

The position requires the performance of all aspects of architecture as it relates to individually assigned projects. These requirements are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:

  Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks: 

  • Reports to Operations Architect
  • Performs work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex issues and supervisory approval on proposed project plans.
  • Candidate exercises independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and using standard techniques and solves problems when encountered.
  • Ability to present ideas and designs during interviews and meetings.
  • Meeting with clients to assist in refining the design of the project.
  • Multi-tasking: ability to participate in several capacities or projects simultaneously, each in different phases.
  • Focus, efficiency, and dependability: shows initiative to be responsible for specific tasks and willingness to assist when needed.
  • Ability to take the design team through Construction Documentation and provide detailing required for construction.

  • Ability to work with Contractors and other team members during Construction Phase services to maintain design intent.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-10 years relevant experience, preferably with proficiency producing proposals (RFPs/RFQs/RFIs) in the architecture/engineering industry

Lead Reviewer/Program Manager
Virginia Community College System | Richmond, Va.

Facilities Management Services seeks a highly motivated individual for the position of Lead Reviewer/Program Manager who reports to the Deputy Chief Facilities Officer for Facilities Management Services. This position:

  • Provides oversight and review coordination of architectural and engineering plans for projects to assure that VCCS projects conform to good construction practices.
  • Is responsible for reviewing and/or coordinating reviews of plans and specifications of projects prior to submission to Division of Engineering and Buildings to ensure that plans are complete, coordinated, code complaint, and consistence with requirements of the VCCS capital outlay process.
  • Is responsible for staff supervision and contract administration for design and construction of assigned projects at selected community college campuses.

The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment requiring professional interaction with architects/engineers, college faculty and staff, community college presidents, and members of the State Board for Community Colleges.
