One of the initiatives of the Board of Directors this year has been to initiate a Large Firm Round Table.

The goal is to gain a better understanding of the priorities and concerns of the larger firms in Virginia to help shape programs and activities to better serve members.

Twenty-nine of the largest firms in Virginia were invited to the inaugural meeting of the Large Firm Roundtable (LFRT), which was held at the Virginia Center for Architecture on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. There were 20 people in attendance with an excellent exchange of ideas, issues and concerns.

A representative from the legal firm of Williams Mullen present at the meeting to discuss issues of Government Advocacy including legislation regarding small business definitions and procurement.

The LFRT discussed issues of professional excellence related to firm culture, emerging professionals and workforce development. Strengths and threats to the profession were also discussed.

They also discussed many of the transformative initiatives underway to provide a consistent experience for all members, to align financial resources and capacity, and to ensure that AIA membership is valuable and relevant.

The LFRT plans to meet twice a year with the next meeting in the fall.
