WoodWorks Richmond Seminars

The Wood Revolution: Inspiring Architecture with Innovative Structural Systems
Architects in Europe commonly use “massive timber” design principles and techniques to take advantage of wood’s carbon benefits, driving positive change through the power of wood design. However, these techniques are not yet widely used in the U.S. Featuring case study examples of projects in Canada, New Zealand and Europe, this presentation will connect structure with architecture by introducing innovative structural wood products and systems and demonstrating their use in a range of applications.

Design Trends: Exceeding Cost and Performance Objectives with Wood-Frame Schools
The choice of building materials can have a considerable impact on a school’s construction costs, energy efficiency, acoustic performance, aesthetic appeal and occupant environment, which can in turn dramatically influence the success of students. This highly pictorial presentation will showcase the range of design possibilities and benefits associated with wood-frame schools.
