A unique International Style residence, Rice House was designed by Neutra for Reynolds executive and U.S. Ambassador Walter Rice and his wife Inger, and built in the mid-1960’s overlooking the falls of the James River in Richmond. Characteristic of many of Neutra’s houses, the architecture features strong horizontal elements, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors, exterior railings, balconies and layered, flat roofs.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, the Virginia Historic Resources Committee invites you to an exclusive tour of the Rice House, followed by an informal lunch discussion at the Virginia Center for Architecture.

Registration: $15 AIA members; $20 all others (lunch included)

Space is very limited and advance registration is required. Click here to register.

Meeting times and directions will be sent with confirmation.

Special thanks to SMBW Architects and the Science Museum of Virginia Foundation. Presented by the Virginia Historic Resources Committee and sponsored by J.M. Kelley Ltd.
